Library "Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada"

Yesterday I went downtown with my dad, and it was such a sunny and beautiful day and I had such a good time. I rarely go downtown, and it's not because I live in the suburbs, but because it is usually full of people and noise and... too much life... and if I have no reason for going, then I don't.
Oh, I live in Mexico city, one of the biggest cities in the world, full of life and chaos everywhere, so there's  no need to travel a lot to find it, and you find yourself or accepting it, or trying to avoid it. We usually call this caothic but amazingly beautiful zone full of people and places, and history, and surprises around every corner, and mavelous buildings and stories... "el centro".
So Yesterday I went to "el centro" with my dad and walked for almost 5 hours without rest, and I found a building I liked, as it was a bit different from the rest having a small square in front of it, and being really old. I thought it was a church as it looked like one, but no, it wasn't. My dad told me it was a library, very beautiful in the inside, so I told him: "oh, please, let's go inside! Just for a little while!" So we went inside and I was astonished: an explosion of colors in the walls, really well lit from above, (daylight and artificial light, amazing!) and so well cared, and the floors were so pretty!

Tears are iridiscent, like a pot of oil spilled on the floor of a parking lot, or old, broken, and abandoned street, full of holes. Both are iridiscent with sunlight.

When u cry and in your eyelashes remain those tears that the handkerchief could not kill, that didn't spoiled your face, and ruined your make up becoming black. When you cry and lie down under the dun, waiting that the star can heat you up and fill in the cold and dark hole you feel. When you get deep into your world of thoughts and tears, just in that moment, you can see a rainbow, way to the pot of gold, way to happiness. You can see the rainbow in your eyelashes, in lines or drops, very close to you and at a time far away, wihtout being able to locate them.

In that moment, the colos that they reveal you, and that you see when crying make you notice it was not so bad. It is not so bad. Nothing is so bad.

Obscuridad /Darkness

Darkness has always mean the unknown, the hidden, the misterious, that concealed that we aspire to, or we fear of. Everything is found on darkness.

When light reveals it, things can be disappointing, surprising, scarying, or calming. In the light we feel sure, but we like to hide in the shadows. We need that duality.

What happens when duality appears? When the space is flooded by darkness and light is just an unreachable shape?

The bright light fulls us with hopes, positive feelings, itbecomes a metaphore where we can find where to grab when we are immerse in the shadows.

Darkness is not always bad. Sometimes, it hides others, it makes us feel in danger, in a deep abism with no way out, where we cannot see the door even if it is next to us. But in other ocassions, shadows can be protective, they hide us and hug us, they don't show us to others if we don't want to go out.

Both, light and shadow, are metaphores that we have in out head without even realizing it, metaphores that we take to real life and help us to go on, or to enjoy places and art pieces.

Sol /Sun

Sunlight is very different all over the world, and all over the year. The funniest thing of all is that you don't notice it until you take your time for observing and feeling.

Today the sun can bother you, and tomorrow you complain about the rain, and the next day you enjoy both conditions depending on your activity , ubication, and mood. A sunny beach is much better than a rainy one, specially when you are on vacation, but rain is deeply apreciated in the city when the last days have been extremely hot. Even though, we never really notice the sun, the light it gives us. We take it for granted, and complain when there is a change of time due to the summer schedule, or viceversa, because there is something that changes.

After a year in a country where you can understand darkness, or see sunsets lasting one hour at 11pm, you learn to enjoy, and understand sunlight in your city.

Before leaving to Sweden, I learnt to see the colors around the day depending on the light and getting in love with the light before sunset, the golden light that gives life a golden sparkle before the colores that preced the darkness arrive.

There are moments all along the day so beautiful like this one, if you only learn to observe.

It's autumn, and sun in Mexico is poweful. It burns you, it hurts you, it goes deeply into your skin if you dare to get on his way. It is a sun that you love and from which you run away, a sun that you miss when you're in the darkness.

Sunlight , warm and ggolden, touches us everyday. If it is not, we miss it, and if it is, we run away from him, but we never leave him, no matter the time, no matter the place.
